MyCiti bus strike continues

The South African Transport and Allied Workers Union says the strike by MyCiti bus drivers employed by sub-contractor Trans-peninsula is continuing.

This as the strike has entered its third week. Satawu's Brightness Matwa said the employer has made no means to try and engage with the union in trying to resolve the impasse of the strike.

Meanwhile Trans-peninsula has approached the CCMA to try and help in resolving the strike.

Matwa said “currently we are in a situation whereby there is no movement or change, but the strike is still continuing.

What I can confirm is that at the moment we are still where when we started the strike.

But what we have actually heard is what the employer is saying to the public of which is misleading and false that they have tried to request meetings with us and we are actually not prepared to have engagements with them" Matwa added.
