The South African Municipal Workers Union in the Cape Metro said due to the lack of strong management at Khayelitsha Health 24 employees have so far tabled their resignation within the space of two months.

The union is now seeking a mandate on a strike action.

Samwu, Regional Secretary Mike Khumalo said our members are getting frustrated and impatient of their issues that are not attended to by their management.

Khumalo said what we are saying is that Khayelitsha sub district management has let the workers down and therefore they are incapable of managing the area.

Khumalo said they are causing more conflict than implementing solutions making sure the community gets the service.

“Our demand is that the management structure needs to be moved out and competent people must be placed in those positions in order to improve the services” Khumalo added.
