The Inkatha Freedom Party has called for a debate on virginity testing at schools.

This as the National Freedom Party Youth Movement said in order to curb the increase in teenage pregnancy, all schools in the country should have virginity testing facilities.

IFP Spokesperson on Education Thembeni-Madlopha-Mthethwa said the proposal will not work as it will disrupt the process of learning at schools.

Mthethwa says as educators and parents we need to speak about morals and emphasis the issue of teaching and learning not being disrupted by conducting virginity testing.

“We need to have an open debate about this issue so that all South Africans can have their say” Mthethwa added.
