The National Bargaining Council for the Clothing Manufacturing Industry says the attack on foreign nationals is a crime against humanity and a brutal attack on fundamental human rights.

Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers Union Fachmy Abrahams says these attacks are a violation of a human right so everyone needs to stand up and condemn what is happening.

At least five people have been killed in the violence, which started in Durban two weeks ago.

Meanwhile President Jacob Zuma on Thursday said no amount of frustration and anger can justify the attack on foreign-nationals and looting of their shops.

He called for calm and for the attacks to come to an end.
