14 people injured after alleged taxi tyre burst

A taxi accident this morning on the R59 Kliprivier Road, south of Johannesburg left fourteen people injured.

It is believed that the taxi had a tyre burst which resulted in it losing control and rolling several times.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics from the ER24 Johannesburg south branch, along with other services arrived on the scene and found the taxi sitting upright on the side of the road. The occupants were found walking around on scene.

Meiring said on assessment paramedics discovered that 14 occupants from the taxi had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately no-one had sustained any serious injuries.

Meiring said paramedics treated the patients on scene for their injuries and thereafter transported them to Natalspruit Hospital for further observations.
