An accident this morning on Hermon Road in Wellington left six people injured.

It is believed that two bakkies collided head-on into each other causing the crash.

ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring said ER24 paramedics arrived on scene and found the truck sitting on the side of the road next to a large tree. Three occupants from the truck were found sitting next to their vehicle.

Meiring added that paramedics found that one patient had sustained critical injuries while the two others had sustained minor to moderate injuries. Paramedics set out treating the patients as well as providing the critically injured patient with advanced life support.

He further sais that all the patients were treated on scene and stabilised before they were transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for urgent medical treatment.

The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
