Power utility Eskom has announced that it will implement stage 2 load shedding as from 4pm this afternoon until 10pm this evening.

In a statement Eskom said customers must be assured that load-shedding is implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system.

Eskom Spokesperson Khulu Phaiswe said there are not enough generating capacity at this stage due to a high demand for electricity.

Phaiswe said at the same time some of our generating units are off line because of technical faults so that is why the system is constrained.
