An investigation is underway following a fire which destroyed several informal dwellings near Port Shepstone earlier today.

Emergency Medical Services Spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said the fire spread quickly because the informal dwellings were clustered together.

Mckenzie said fortunately nobody was injured in the blaze which contained to about five informal dwellings.

Mckenzie added that fire-fighters managed to extinguish the blaze.

At this stage the cause of the fire is not known and will be investigated by the authorities.” Mckenzie concluded.
