The African National Congress in the Western Cape has alleged that the Democratic Alliance in the province has failed to properly consulate in its MyCiti programme rollout in Atlantis.

The ANC is calling on the City of Cape Town to not rush the implementation of this public transport programme to consult widely with more affected stakeholders like the taxi drivers.

“ANC’s Yonela Diko said we do not appreciate the fact that the Democratic Alliance in its implementation of this MyCiti rollout, it presents it as a non-negotiable transport system that is going to be saver in the city without even considering the key components of democracy which is public participation”

There have been several complaints that have been lodged in our office in Atlantis, by both the taxi association and the community at large, but it cannot be forced and people have been living longer than this MyCiti bus, Diko added.
