The South African Police Service will soon launch a new National Disciplinary Trial Unit which will deal will all forms of misconduct within the police ranks.

This comes as criticism has been levelled against the police in the way they handle disciplinary issues with a lack of consistency.

The national office has started recruiting members who will be part of the unit.

Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said in order to deal decisively with all forms of misconduct, we are looking at implementing a national disciplinary trail unit.

“This trial unit will focus on dealing decisively with members that contravene our regulations, also that have been charged with criminal offences and also ensure consistency and that the disciplinary processes are dealt with in good time.” Naidoo said.

Naidoo added that right now we find that the processes that we are in are lacking consistency and also that some of the disciplinary proceedings are taking to long and this of cause is affecting the continent of the public.
