A man in his 30’s was killed last night after he
was hit by a bakkie on the N12 Highway in Lenasia, South of Johannesburg.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said, ER24
paramedics were called to the scene in the early hours of the morning.
On arrival, the paramedics found the body of the man
lying in the centre medium between the two highways.
On assessment, paramedics found, the man had
already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries.
“Unfortunately nothing more could be done for the
patient”, Meiring added
The driver of the bakkie fortunately did not
sustain any injuries.
Local authorities were on scene for further
investigations.
Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man is in a critical
condition after he was hit by a truck on the M4 Merewent in KwaZulu Natal.

Paramedics were alerted to the scene, and immediately responded.
On arrival, paramedics found
the male patient lying some distance away from his truck. On assessment the paramedics
found that the patient had sustained severe injuries to his head, chest and
legs and was in a critical condition.
Meiring said, “Paramedics
immediately began their treatment and provided the patient with advanced life
support.”
Once treated, the patient
was transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
It is understood that the
man had pulled over in the emergency lane of the road to reload some cargo that
had fallen off. The man was then struck by a passing truck
“Paramedics say, the truck was not found on the
scene, however local authorities are conducting further investigations”, said
Meiring
