The Western Cape Education
Department has decided to launch a programme that will provide quality public
schooling for all children.
The department says one of
their greatest educational challenge is to ensure that learners in poorer
communities are able to access the same quality of education as those who can
afford to pay more for additional resources.
“Through our new Collaboration
Schools pilot, we will test a new and exciting model of schooling that brings
additional education management skills and innovation into the public school
system.” Ministerial spokesperson Jessica Shelver said.
The pilot will continue for a
period of five years, subject to the performance of the partners and the
schools.
