Public Protector says today’s findings reaffirms the powers of her office

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has reacted to today’s historic Constitutional Court ruling, saying it proves there was sophisticated disregard of her findings by government institutions in the Nkandla spending debacle, and it reaffirms the powers of her office.

In a comprehensive and unanimous judgment handed down this morning, the court found that President Jacob Zuma failed to “uphold, defend and respect” the Constitution when he ignored the Public Protector’s Nkandla Report.
