Three suspected carjackers
died in a hail of bullets during a confrontation with police in Wentworth,
Durban, on Wednesday night.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant
Colonel Shooz Magudulela said the provincial vehicle task team had responded to
a report that a gold-coloured Mercedes Benz had been hijacked in Merebank, and
had thrown a wide net in their search for the suspects.
Magudulela said the responding
officers were led on a high-speed chase through Merebank and along a section of
freeway towards the Bluff.
