An alleged serial rapist is back in the dock today.

Patrick Hlomane, also known as Mthunzi Makhamba, is accused of attacking at least five women near Rhodes Memorial in Cape Town.

He was arrested in March. The prosecution believes there is substantial evidence, including video footage and cell phone records, linking Hlomane to a series of rapes near the University of Cape Town campus.

He is yet to be charged for all five attacks, but does stand accused of raping and robbing a woman near campus in November.

This was the first attack reported.

The latest attack happened in March, when a woman claimed she was threatened with a knife, forced into bushes, raped and held captive for more than 24 hours.
