The Right to Know Campaign in a statement says it welcomes the judgement handed down by the Labour Court for SABC Journalists.

Right to Know’s Organiser, Micah Reddy in a statement says, there is a need for a radical response to the prevailing status quo at the SABC to ensure that the broadcaster is protected from political interference.

Reddy says “R2K welcomes this latest victory against SABC management and in favour of the purge SABC journalists.

This is a victory for press freedom and basic constitutional values. That said the battle continues, the battle to reclaim the soul of our public broadcaster which has been steadily undermined by political interference.

The issues run much deeper than the censorship policy and the intimidation of journalists. The root of these problems id political interference and a lack of respect for public broadcasting.

We have management that are in cahoots with political factions and its destabilizing the SABC”
