Road accidents leave several injured and one dead

11 people including 7 children were injured this morning when the bakkie they were travelling in overturned on the M7 towards Malmesbury in Summergreens, Cape Town.


Shortly after 9AM this morning paramedics arrived on the scene


A 5 year-old sustained severe injures was rushed to Red Cross Children’s Hospital.


The cause of the accident is not yet known.


Meanwhile, one person was killed and ten others sustained various injuries when the bakkie they were travelling in overturned on Matupa Road, Tzaneen.


At approximately 02h30 this morning, paramedics from ER24 attended the scene where they found a bakkie wedged up near a telephone pole on the side of the road. The occupants of the bakkie were found lying near the vehicle.

One person was announced dead on the scene. The other people were treated for lacerations, scrapes and bruises, they were later transported to Letaba and Van Velden Hospitals


It is still uncertain if a second vehicle was involved in the collision. Local authorities attended the scene and will investigate.
