WC Police arrested more than 400 suspects over the weekend

Western Cape Police conducted daily search operations in Nyanga which resulted in more than 400 arrests this past weekend.


All arrested suspects will appear in the Athlone. Philippi and Wynberg Magistrates Courts Courts as well as in Fezeka Community Court


Meanwhile, Saturday night Phillipi SAPS members arrested a 29-year-old male from Oaklands close to Westridge, Mitchells Plain after following up on information that drugs had been stored at a residence in Evergreen Road Hanover Park.


The suspects were found in possession of 260 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R 20 800.


In an unrelated case SAPS members received information indicating that drugs were being transported from Cape Town to Worcester.


The information was forwarded to Worcester SAPS who conducted an operation. A white Mitsubishi Colt LDV with registration CY 63461 was pulled over near a petrol station in Worcester.

Two male occupants were found and on searching the LDV 999 - Mandrax tablets were found.


The suspects were arrested on charges of possession of drugs. Both suspects are from the Belhar area in Cape Town.


 They are due to appear in the Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of possession of drugs.
