The Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba says officials in his department have had their hands full trying to provide the necessary documentation to members of the public to enable them to today.
Gigaba has urged members of the public to fetch their documentations for the department's offices across the country which have extended working hours today.
The department's officials announced last month that over 200 000 identity documents were yet to be collected. The extended hours during the elections will allow people who did not collect their particulars to do so.
The department's spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete has urged South Africans to take advantage of this service.
