Walking bus project protesting at SONA

The Walking Bus campaign arrive at the parade with protest action as they have been demanding for change.

This comes after it threatened mass action at Sona if Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis did not respond to a list of demands by Tuesday.

It sparked outrage a few days later by members who accused Hill-Lewis of replacing an initiative which began in the community with a law enforcement unit that discriminates against the former Walking Bus members.

They are also demanding payments of their stipends dating back from the reopening of schools, better personal protective equipment (PPE), and education and equipment for the members.

The spokesperson of Walking bus project said they demand to be heard and for a meeting with the mayor so he can hear their demands and ensure longevity of the walking bus project.

Police was also pushed back at the members protesting.
