Anti-bullying campaign launched to curb school bullying

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is launching an anti-bullying campaign. According to Education MEC Debbie Schafer said that the campaign was in memory, Lufuno Mavhunga.

The grade 10 Limpopo learner was assaulted by another pupil last year, a moment captured on video. The teenage girl took her life before the video went viral on social media.

Schafer said that they were many victims bullying at school, with cyber bullying being the epicenter of bullying nowadays.

“As an education awareness campaign, the WCED has created resources that highlight the harm we do by simply liking, sharing, or commenting on a harmful post. We have also created a set of online videos to show learners and the general public exactly how to stop the share of this type of harmful content,”
