Taxi association distances itself from national shutdown

As word of a national shutdown continues to spread on social media platforms panic has risen among resident. This has resulted in Cosatu and the taxi industry to distance themselves stating that they have no intentions of taking part in any action on Friday.

The messages have caused some panic among residents in the areas purported to be affected, with claims that the action will be led by several groups including union federation Cosatu, the National Taxi Alliance (NTA), the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) and the EFF.

This came after the National Taxi Alliance threatened that should negotiations fail with government over the high fuel prices, a national shutdown will be implemented. However the alliance said that they are currently talks with the government to try and find a solution.
