Western Cape police arrested 460 suspects wanted for serious offences including murder

The Western Cape Police service apprehended 460 suspects, wanted for serious offences. Operation Vutha Hawe saw the wanted suspects arrested for murder, attempted murder, robbery, assault, burglary and domestic violence.

Police also seized 84 firearms and 657 rounds of ammunition after Operation Restore, and other SAPS related initiatives made the busts between 01 October and 13 October 2022

On Saturday morning Manenberg police arrested a 30 year old man for the possession of an unlicensed firearm. Police were busy with stop and search operations due to the ongoing gang violence in the area, when they apprehended the suspect in Pluto Road, at about 03:55.  

The suspect was found with a 9mm pistol with ammunition, he is to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrates court today.

Meanwhile four suspects were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and stolen motor vehicle in Station Road Tulbagh on Friday afternoon.

The police’s Wesley Twigg said that the arrest came after a tipoff, on a suspicious vehicle.

“A 9mm Norinco pistol was found inside the vehicle. Further investigations revealed that the vehicle they were driving was reported stolen in the Nyanga area. Once charged the suspects are due to make a court appearance in the Tulbagh Magistrates court on the mentioned charges “
