The City of Cape Town’s Fire & rescue Services are extinguishing multiple flare ups within the Fountain Ravine section of the park on Camps Bay side.
According to the Table Mountain National Park, Fire
fighters were on scene on Tuesday afternoon and a huey helicopter has been
dispatched to water bomb the inaccessible areas. Firefighters on Saturday
extinguished a fire in the same Fountain Ravine, which started on Friday.
Meanwhile, firefighters are battling another fire on the
Old Du Toit’s Kloof Pass. Firefighters also extinguished another fire in the
area last week.
According to the Cape Winelands District Municipality,
Tuesday’s fire was caused by an accident between a truck and a motorbike.
Spokesperson, Jo-Anne Otto, said the road is currently
closed to traffic.
She added that the municipality’s firefighters are being
assisted by Cape Nature to fight the blaze.
