Eskom has announced that it will rotate between Stage 1 - and Stage 2 load shedding until Friday.
In a statement, the ailing parastatal said loadshedding
will continue to be implemented on a daily basis at 16:00 – 05:00, and Stage 1
loadshedding will then be implemented daily at 05:00 – 16:00
‘’The increase in loadshedding is mainly due to the need to
preserve emergency generation reserves, the delay in returning four generating
units to service while many running units are operating at reduced capacity due
to technical faults,’’ said spokesperson, Sikonathi Manthantsha.
‘’The delay in the return of two generating units at
Camden, one unit each at Kendal and Matimba power stations have contributed to
the generation capacity shortages,’’ he added.
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town said its customers will
only experience Stage 2 rolling power cuts between 10p.m and 5a.m
