Metrorail Western Cape has announced that the train service between Eerste Rivier and Bellville will again be in operation from Monday.
The line has been non-operational since the
introduction of the national lockdown regulations in 2020, due to the
coronavirus pandemic.
“Bringing back the service on the line is a
response to a number of requests from the communities and customers of the
Eerste Rivier area to re-open the line,” said Metrorail Western Cape
spokesperson, Zino Mihi.

The region will on the same day introduce a
shuttle service between Simonstown and Fish Hoek. The Fish Hoek line has been
closed since the beginning of the year due to environmental issues (sand on the
tracks).
“The line is very popular to local and
international tourists. As we wrap up the year, Acting Regional Manager,
Raymond Maseko would like to thank all our customers for their patience with us
as the business as we try to recover the service on most of our lines in the region,” she
added.
