Three arrested in connection with a hijacking and kidnapping case in Brooklyn on Christmas Day

Three suspects were arrested in connection with a hijacking and kidnapping case in Brooklyn on Christmas Day.

Cape Town Traffic Services spokesperson, Kevin Jacobs, said Highway Patrol officers stopped a white Toyota Yaris on the N1 at Marine Drive, as the car was not displaying a rear number plate, and the automatic number plate recognition system in the Highway Patrol vehicles indicated that the vehicle was being driven with false number plates.

‘’Further investigations revealed that the vehicle was stolen. The suspects were positively identified by the victim at Maitland SAPS, as the suspects involved in her hijacking and kidnapping on Christmas Day,’’ he said.

Jacobs said the suspects aged 33, 38 and 45 were found in possession of computers, numerous cellphones, a number of vehicle keys and remotes,  as well as an array of vehicle number plates.

They have been charged with hijacking, kidnapping, the possession of a stolen vehicle and displaying false number plates, along with a number of traffic offences.
