Fourteen passengers were treated at George Provincial hospital for injuries on Wednesday, and the motive for the attack is still unknown.

MacKenzie has urged the South African Police Service and law enforcement agencies to bring the culprits to justice as swiftly as possible.

He added that they will continue to work with their partners to provide commuters with reliable public transport.

“I have engaged with [Western Cape] Minister of Social Development Sharna Fernandez to arrange for counselling and social support for the victims. My thoughts are with the driver and passengers who were affected by this traumatic incident” said Western Cape's Mobility MEC, Ricardo Mackenzie

GO GEORGE Manager Morné Lakay assured users that their bus service is fully operational.

‘’The GIPTN regrets the incident and will assist the police with information and CCTV footage to bring the perpetrators to book. The bus service in the area and all other routes remain fully operational.’’
