Eskom blames network faults on vandalism in Wesbank

Eskom in the Western Cape has blamed cable theft to vandalism of its infrastructure for multiple network faults in Wesbank.

Eskom met with community leaders in Wesbank last month to address electricity related issues that are affecting the community.

It is said that community leaders have since approached the South African Human Rights Commission over the crisis. Now, the Human Rights Commission says it will pressure Eskom to restore power.

Eskom has appealed to the community to assist it to safeguard its infrastructure and cables. The company stated that the vandalism is also costing it a lot of money.
