CPUT places hundreds of stranded students

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) says it has placed hundreds of stranded walk-in students squatting in the campus multi-purpose hall.

According to the CPUT spokesperson, Lauren Kansley, their teams have been working around the clock to place the students.

Over 100 students were forced to sleep on the floor at the university’s hall amid ongoing National Student Financial Aid Scheme funding issues.

Kansley said some of the campuses had been cleared of all squatting applicants.

“As of Thursday morning, the Bellville campus has been cleared of all squatting applicants, and a handful will be processed today in District 6.”
