Western Cape demands action to improve the Port of Cape Town's performance.

The Western Cape government has demanded immediate action to improve the Port of Cape Town's container terminal's performance.

The province government's fifth annual port stakeholder engagement is the reason for the call.

During the engagement, provincial MEC for Finance and Economic Opportunities Mireille Wenger met with representatives of the province's Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
According to Wenger, the port's smooth operation affects the entire country of South Africa.

“For the port of Cape Town to truly reach its full potential and perform an international based practice labels, the private sector’s participation must be placed on board formally to boost economic growth that will enable the creation of my more jobs in the Western Cape. This must be done sooner rather than later”, said MEC for Finance and Economic Opportunities Mireille Wenger
