Duo linked to Muizenberg murders to remain behind bars until August

The case against suspects accused of killing a police sergeant in May 2025 will find out whether or not they can apply for bail next month.

Someleze Mahlabela and Jaden Fortune appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday. The duo are accused of being behind the murder of 48-year-old Lulama Njobeni who was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside his home in Vrygrond. The officer was dressed in his uniform and on his way to report for duty at the Wynberg SAPS when the incident occurred.

The Hawks initially arrested three suspects on Monday, but the third suspect was released as he could not be linked to the crime. The suspects will remain behind bars until their next court appearance on 14 August 2025 for bail information.
