A 32-year-old man has been arrested following an alleged domestic dispute that left two women dead and a 12-year-old boy wounded following a shooting incident in Portland, Mitchell’s Plain, on Thursday afternoon.
Police confirmed that the suspect will appear in the
Mitchell’s Magistrates’ Court soon on charges of murder and attempted murder.
‘’ Mitchell’s Plain police responded to a
complaint of a shooting on Thursday afternoon, 06 November 2025, at about 15:00
in Wespoort Drive, Portlands, where two females aged 26 and 30 were shot and
fatally wounded and a 12 year old boy wounded,’’ said Sergeant Wesley Twigg,

‘’According to reports, the victims were approached by a
relative who opened fire on them. The 26-year-old female was declared deceased
on the scene by medical personnel, while the other two victims were transported
to a medical facility for treatment, where the 30-year-old female was declared
deceased on arrival at the hospital. The motive for the attack is believed to
be domestic-related,’’ he added.
Mitchell’s Plain SAPS are investigating murder and
attempted murder cases.
Bush Radio News previously reported that the Western Cape
Education Department (WCED) confirmed that they are supporting those who are
affected by the incident.
‘’Reports indicate that two members of a foster family were
targeted by allegedly the biological parent of another learner. In addition, an
innocent bystander, a Grade 6 learner, was taken to hospital. His injuries are
reportedly not life threatening. The WCED has been on the scene to provide
support with medical and law enforcement on the scene. Counselling support has
been arranged for all learners. This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts are
with the family, friends and the school communities of those involved,’’ said
Bronagh Hammond, WCED spokesperson.
