The City of Cape Town urges
men to prioritise their physical and emotional well-being.
According to the city’s recent data, men continue to face unique barriers to seeking care, even though general access to healthcare services has been consistent over the last two years.
Male-focused clinics present a mixed picture, with Kuyasa Male Clinic showing a 27.2% increase in attendance, while Site B Male Clinic experienced a 4.8% decline.
Late diagnoses of non-communicable diseases, HIV, Tuberculosis, and mental health conditions also remain major concerns.
The city’s MMC for Health, Francine Higham, says “Too often men carry their struggles in silence. Through the city’s Men’s health programme, we do not only offer clinical care, but we are also offering compassion. We are saying it is okay to ask for help seeking support is a sign of strength not weakness. Every man deserves to live a healthy, purposeful life”.
