Batches of Citro-Soda Regular are being pulled from shelves across South Africa. The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) confirmed the recall following the identification of potential foreign material contamination during an Adcock Ingram manufacturing facility in Clayville, Johannesburg.
The recall is limited to specific batches produced at this
site. It includes several product formats such as Citro-Soda Regular 60g,
Citro-Soda Regular 120g, Citro-Soda Regular 4g sachets, in packs of 30.
‘’Retail pharmacies,
wholesalers, distribution centres are requested to refrain from selling any
affected batch(es) listed and to return these products to their supplying
warehouse or distribution centre. Adcock Ingram Limited will collect the stock
from wholesalers and distribution centres which will be credited on your
account,’’ said SAHPRA in a statement.
Consumers are requested to return any impacted stock to the
point of purchase for credit or stock replacement.
Public and healthcare professionals are encouraged to
report any side effects after using a health product or after immunisation by
using the Med Safety App.
SAHPRA said it will outline the reasons behind the recall,
the regulatory decision taken, and provide guidance to both healthcare
professionals and the public in a media briefing on Tuesday.
