Residents across several Cape Town suburbs are being urged to prepare for planned water supply interruptions today and Thursday as the City of Cape Town undertakes essential maintenance to strengthen the reliability of its water network.
The scheduled work forms part of the City's ongoing infrastructure maintenance programme aimed at improving water supply services and reducing the likelihood of unexpected disruptions in the future.
The affected areas include:
- Claremont
- Vredekloof East
- Morgenster
- Morgenster Heights
- Fisantekraal
- Verwoerd
- Plattekloof
- Panorama
- Paarden Eiland
Residents and businesses in these areas are advised to store enough water before the scheduled interruptions to ensure they have sufficient supplies for drinking, cooking, sanitation, and other essential household needs.
The City has reminded residents that planned maintenance is necessary to keep the water network operating efficiently and to improve the long-term reliability of the system. While temporary disruptions may cause inconvenience, the work is intended to help prevent larger, unplanned outages in the future.
Once the water supply has been restored, some consumers may notice cloudy or discoloured water. This is generally temporary and can usually be resolved by running the cold tap for a few minutes until the water clears.
Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the City of Cape Town's official communication platforms for updates on the maintenance schedule and any changes that may affect their area.
The City has thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as it continues investing in critical infrastructure to provide a more reliable water supply for communities across Cape Town.
