About 280-thousand SASSA grant beneficiaries across South Africa still need to replace their Postbank Gold Cards with the new Postbank Black Cards before the 31 August deadline. More than 43-thousand of the outstanding card replacements are in the Western Cape.
Postbank briefed the Western Cape Standing Committee on
Social Development yesterday, assuring members that it has enough staff,
replacement sites and resources in place to issue all remaining Black Cards
before the deadline.
courtesy of google@ gov.caChief Operating Officer Eurekha Singh says many beneficiaries tend to wait until the final month to replace their cards, creating unnecessary pressure on service points. She has encouraged all beneficiaries who are still using Gold Cards to visit their nearest replacement site as soon as possible. Singh says Postbank is confident that everyone who comes forward before the deadline will receive a new Black Card.
Meanwhile, Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako has warned
that there will be no extension beyond the 31st of August. He says
beneficiaries who continue using their Gold Cards after the deadline risk
having their SASSA grant payments interrupted until they obtain the new Black
Card.
Postbank is urging all affected beneficiaries not to delay
and to replace their Gold Cards well before the deadline to avoid long queues
and any disruption to their social grant payments.
