Cape Metro election results postponed
The final result of the highly contested Cape Metro election will only be known later this morning. This follows a decision late last night by IEC regional chief Courtney Sampson to postpone vote capturing and auditing in the metro until this morning. He cited verification and auditing of votes, as well as tiredness among those involved in the process, as the main reasons for the postponement. Last night at around half-past-ten more than 95 percent of the metro’s votes had been verified. The DA was leading with 43 percent of the vote, followed by the ANC with 38 percent, the ID with 12 percent and the ACDP with three percent.
