Cabinet meets to discuss issues in the province

Staff reporter

Western Cape Premier Ebrahim Rasool says there is a very real danger that the turmoil in the city of Cape Town administration could endanger major investments planned ahead of the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Rasool was addressing a media conference on Wednesday, after the ANC appealed for provincial intervention to end what it called the chaos in the City. Rasool said making 2010 a political football sent wrong signals into the world. He pointed out that investors planning six or seven hotels in Cape Town in anticipation of the World Cup could take their money else where at any time. He said he was hoping to see maturity and stability in the City of Cape Town very soon.
Taxi violence and gang related killings in the Cape Flats were also addressed at the meeting. Western Cape Premier, Ebrahim Rasool, promised that cabinet will ensure safety for residents by forming road blocks and patrolling targeted points such as Delft and Hanover Park.
