Koeberg rotor takes to the road
The vital Koeberg replacement rotor will be taken by road from Cape Town harbour to the nuclear power plant on the Cape West Coast today. Eskom spokesperson Tony Stott told NewsFlash the exact time of departure on a 12 axle flat-bed trailer has not been determined, but the massive 200 ton rotor should be at Koeberg by late this afternoon. The transporting is being undertaken by a team consisting of officials from the Ports Authority, the police, metro traffic authorities and a number of service providers. Stott says all the necessary safety precautions are in place. The rotor arrived from France on the SAS Drakensberg on Wednesday.
