The lateston the Cape Town Council fighting
Cape Town mayor Helen Zille says the city council will study the response by lawyers for city manager Wallace Mgoqi on the question of whether the extension of his one-year contract was carried out legally. According to Business Day, Mgoqi’s lawyer, Clem Druker, says in a letter to the council that it would be in the best interests of the city if what he calls the warring parties could get together and sort out the issue with a sensible approach. He says preliminary legal advice obtained from two advocates is contrary to the opinion received by the council that the extension of Mgoqi’s contract is not legally valid.
