Mgoqi adamant to return to office
Sacked Cape Town unicity manager Wallace Mgoqi says he will be in his office as usual today. Mgoqi says in a statement issued by his lawyer that DA mayor Helen Zille herself is on record as conceding that only a court of law can decide on the validity of his contract. According to the statement Mgoqi continues to regard his contract as valid and will continue to tender his services accordingly. Yesterday a specially convened council meeting resolved to revoke former executive mayor Nomaindia Mfeketo's decision to extend Mgoqi's contract for a year. The decision was made on the eve of the recent local elections. DA Spokesperson Robert McDonald says Council administrator Achmat Ebrahim has been named acting city manager in Mgoqi's place.
