Opposition parties want Hlope issue resolved
Opposition parties have called for the issue surrounding remuneration to Cape Judge President John Hlophe outside his judicial post to be cleared up immediately. Democratic Alliance MP Sheila Camerer says the DA calls on Chief Justice Pius Langa to sort the problem out via the Judicial Services Commission. Camrerer says it is deeply troubling that the last time the JSC met in October last year, Hlophe was also embroiled in controversy. Allegedly racist remarks he made to a Senior Counsel dominated the proceedings at the time. The Freedom Front Plus has joined the fray and says the party will request that the JSC put Hlophe’s remuneration on its agenda immediately. The JSC meets in Cape Town today.
