Security strike set to continue
The strike by security guards is set to resume after a labour court decision that declared an agreement on wage increases null and void. Last weekend, the SA National Security Employers Organisation and 14 labour unions agreed on a wage increase of eight percent over three years. on Saturday the Labour Court ruled that the agreement was not legally binding because the SA Transport and Allied Workers Union was not part of it. Satawu spokesperson Randall Howard says the union feels vindicated. He says security members will now be able to resume their legal and protected strike. He says the union will provide feedback on the court's decision to its members this week and a decision on how to proceed will be taken.
