Son of former MEC dies after rugby game
The 26-year-old son of former Western Cape MEC Patrick McKenzie died on Saturday after playing rugby at Florida Park in Ravensmead in Cape Town. The SA Rugby Union says on its website that Immanuel McKenzie was playing for his club Tygerberg when he complained of chest pains in the last few minutes of the game against Hamiltons. He was immediately treated by paramedics and taken to the N1 City Hospital where he died soon after arrival. Saru president Oregan Hoskins has expressed his condolences to the family on behalf of the entire rugby fraternity. A Saru delegation will visit the McKenzie family in the coming week.
