Mbeki bombarded by questions during imbizo

President Thabo Mbeki was bombarded with questions yesterday over service delivery in the eastern Free State town of Warden. Reports states that hundred of residents in the Phumelela municipality turned out for the presidential municipal imbizo in Ezenzeleni township. Farm evictions, lack of housing and infrastructure development were the main problems raised by residents. Mbeki said the country inherited many problems from the apartheid era, adding that residents must have an understanding of the nature and size of the challenges, which cannot be solved in one-day altogether. Provincial and local government minister Sydney Mufamadi urged residents to attend ward committee meetings and take part in local development planning. The meeting was the last of a two-day imbizo in the eastern Free State.
