School children safe after bus hijacking
Two Cape Town school children were found unharmed after a government minibus carrying them to school was hijacked by armed gunmen early Friday morning. Police spokesperson Randall Stoffels says the driver and another four pupils managed to jump out of the vehicle before the hijackers sped off. The hijacking in the Westbank area set off a massive manhunt, with several police vehicles and a police helicopter joining in the search. The children were eventually found unharmed in Langa, where they had been dropped off by the hijackers. Stoffels says all six pupils, as well as the driver of the minibus, will undergo trauma counselling.
