During a media briefing today, the City of Cape Town delivered its State of the Environment Report.
Amy Davison from Environmental Resource Management Department said the report provided a snapshot of the environment to guide the City in adjusting its strategies to maintain environmental sustainability.
She said the report presented a mixed picture of the city with improvements in water use, waste disposal and air quality.
“But there has been decline in greater biodiversity in the city and the coastal ecosystems are cause for concerns” said Davison
The city’s response has been the Five year environmental plan and they acknowledged that environmental degradation maybe reduced in five years.
