The City of Cape Town said in a statement that young couples earning between three-and-a-half-thousand- and 10-thousand-rands per month might be able to qualify for hundreds of so-called “gap housing” units being developed over the next few months.

A total of 540 housing units, which will be sold for between 145-thousand- and 230-thousand-rands each is being planned in Wetton and Rugby.

According to director of housing finance of the City of Cape Town Wayne Muller the developments have been made possible by the municipality’s pioneering agreement with banks.
