Matie student allegedly raped in her flat

Murdered 20-year-old Stellenbosch Unversity student Erin van Rensburg was according to reports allegedly already was raped the morning of June 1 in her Stellenbosch flat by her suspected attacker, 24-year-old Jacobus Eksteen.

According to reports she was showering on Monday morning when she and Eksteen were alone in the flat.

Her brother Byron, with whom she shared the flat, and her boyfriend, had earlier left to write exams.

Her hands and feet were bound after the suspected attack and a piece of material was stuffed in her mouth.

Later that day Erin reported as missing.

Eksteen, from Upington and a final year accounting student, was arrested by police the following day on charges of kidnapping and murder.

Eksteen is being held at the Stellenbosch prison and will appear in court again on Wednesday.
